Our Guild has a drawloom group with 6 members in various stages of setting up the loom, learning how to draft and weave a project on the drawloom. They meet quarterly in homes...and in one case a barn studio.
Drawloom weaving requires a Scandanavian style countermarch loom with a minimum of 4 shafts & treadles. Shafts are added to the loom using a drawloom extension. The smaller Glimakra Julia is suitable for smaller homes with limited floor space. Larger Glimakras & Oxabeck looms require a large space but can accommodate many more pattern shafts.
Our November speaker, Amy Blair, will introduce you to drawloom weaving from her Pennsylvania studio. Her You Tube Channel Dueling Rabbit Handweaving Productions has been a source of education & inspiration for weavers around the world. Members from Seattle & Tacoma guilds will be joining our November meeting.
Should you catch the drawloom bug after Amy's presentation be sure to check out the CNCH Conference schedule. Master Weaver Joann Hall will be teaching basic drawloom at the April conference.
